Sydney acoustic duo, James and Bobo, are the backbone of the Big Thanks Band. They are the primary lead singers of our full band lineup. Our Sydney acoustic duo is called on to play wedding ceremonies and canapés. It is common to have an acoustic duo play through the reception dinner, too. It is very beneficial to have a female and male singer in an acoustic duo because the repertoire is greatly expanded. They can cover both female and male songs. Their harmonies are very strong. When one person takes the lead the other will harmonise. There is also something nice about having a female and male singing together at a wedding. The sound is appropriate for the occasion.

Song repertoire of our Sydney acoustic duo

There are certainly common requests when it comes to ceremony repertoire. Songs like “A Thousand Years”, “Over the Rainbow”, “At Last”, and “Marry Me” are very common requests. For good reason! Over the years we have played many ceremonies and have built up a large repertoire of songs that are great for the ceremony. We also have a lot of songs that are perfect for the canapés. The approach is to play positive and uplifting music in order to create the best vibe possible in the lead up to the reception. What also makes our duo strong is that they are skilled as DJs, too. We are often requested to play the earlier stages of wedding acoustically and then transition to dance music when the party gets kicking. This is an extremely economical option for many couples who don’t want to invest in a full band for their wedding reception.
